FLOYD KNOBS, Ind. — A celebration of life service for Jacqueline “Jackie” Fletcher Allen, 88, of Seymour, Ind., who died Friday, Feb. 9. 2018, at Seymour Crossing, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 2100 Highway 150 in Floyd Knobs, Ind., with the Rev. tony Alstott officiating.    

Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Ind., under the direction of Voss and Sons Funeral Service in Seymour.

Mrs. Allen was born Jan. 27, 1930, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the daughter of Jack Bowen Fletcher and Bertha Hays Fletcher.

She married Brooks Allen in Abilene, Texas, on Dec. 17, 1950, at the University Baptist Church. Mr. Allen died May 31, 2009 in Seymour.

Jackie was a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, with a master’s degree in education. She was a member of the University of Cowboy Band, where she was honored to be chosen to ride one of the white horses. She retired from teaching after a number of years of service with the Natchez school system. She was a member of the Who’s Who in American College and Universities, Cowgirls Garden Club and Natchez Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, John Robin Fletcher; and one sister, Frances Hodges.

Survivors include three children, Angela Scheirmann and husband, George, Tracy Allen and husband, Shannon, and Leslie Abbott; eight grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
