NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Carolyn Cowart Allen, 66, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Laird Funeral Home.
Carolyn was born on July 21, 1951, in Natchez, the daughter of Curtis Cowart and Ruby Dean Cowart.
She lived in many places in her life: Oklahoma, Spain — where her oldest son, Adam, was born — Texas, Louisiana and Maine.
She operated her own business, “Chattering Balloons.”
She made friends so easily and never met a stranger.
She greeted everyone with a big smile.
She was always delivering surprise cookies or cakes to friends, especially during the holidays.
Her favorite things were spending time with family and, most importantly, loving on her grandchildren. They lit her up when they walked in.
She will be missed by many, but her love will carry on.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Curt Thornton.
Survivors include her husband, Greg Allen; one son, Adam Thornton of Brandon; one daughter, Kristin Thornton and her fiancé, Roberty Lively, of Vidalia; two grandchildren: Haylee and Curt Thornton; two brothers: Curtis Cowart, Jr., and fiancée, Dani Troutman, and Randy Cowart and wife, Lori, all of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.
