On Wednesday, Natchez High School’s EJ Woods and Shavoké Herrington became not just two, but three peas in a pod.
Woods and Herrington signed their National Letters of Intent to East Mississippi Community College to join early signee and Bulldog quarterback Chris Scott in Scooba.
“I know it’s going to help because we can help each other out,” Herrington said. “We’ve known each other since we were little.”
With a little extra insight, the duo both agreed they think the transition to college wont be as hard.
“He said it’s different — a different work ethic,” Herrington said.
Woods added Scott has been filling him with stories about the atmosphere.
“He said the classes are fairly easy and the teachers are nice,” Woods said. “It is comforting because now I already know what to expect.”
Herrington said while he is happy to be with a few people he knows, he is equally eager to make new memories as a defensive back.
“I’m excited for the experience,” he said. “I’m ready to play with people who have the same amount of talent as I do and to see how I respond to it.”
Woods also signed as a defensive back, said he can’t wait to win.
“I got an opportunity to play with a great program, and that’s the best part,” he said. “I just want to go up there and experience the winning attitude.”
All in all, the trio is sure to make an impact, Natchez football coach Roy Rigsby said.
“I think they made a quality decision to got to East Mississippi,” he said. “I’m proud of them for that.
“It always makes me proud. The more the merrier.”
