Nov. 29, 1957 – Feb. 4, 2018
NATCHEZ — Services for Percy Randale “Randy” Simmons, 60, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bo Swilley officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Simmons was born Nov. 29, 1957, in Natchez, the son of Percy Edwin Simmons and Sallie Vera Simmons.
Randy’s passion was to own his own construction company which he did accomplish and did very well at. When his mother became sick, he gave up his company in Gulfport and moved back home to take his role of her caregiver. He dreamed of moving back to the coast one day to start over his life, but would not leave due to his knowing his father needed him here also. He spent most of his time playing with Lady, his best friend, until becoming ill himself. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need if he was able to. He turned his life over to Jesus in his last days and would not let go of the Bible given to him by the Rev. Bo.
Survivors include his two sons, Craig Simmons and fiancée, Tracy Todd, of Vidalia and Kyle Simmons of Saucier; two grandchildren, Lucas Simmons and Avery Stephens; two sisters, Deborah Walker and husband, James “Cornbread,“ of Fayette and Elizabeth Murphy and husband, Steve, of Winnemucca, Nev.; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends in his last days and future wife, Connie Simmons Howington and friends, Sara Simmons, Caitlynn Hinson, Maegan Hinson and Kerry Wilkinson.
He is also survived by his very best beloved pet, Lady.
Pallbearers will be Seth Howington, Shelby Martin, Eddie Martin, Jesse Clark, Shelton Dunn and Mike Dekerlegand.
