NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The U.S. Department of Defense says a 22-year-old soldier from Louisiana has died in Iraq but not from a combat injury.

Defense Department officials said Wednesday that Sgt. Jordan E. Tuttle, of West Monroe, died Friday in Baghdad, Iraq, but did not provide details of what happened. Col. Mike Deville of the Louisiana National Guard said he had not further information and the family had asked for privacy at this time.

Tuttle was a member of the 156th Army Band in Bossier City and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 141st Field Artillery Regiment, 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete for the 2006 graduate of Ouachita Parish High School who was majoring in entrepreneurship at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Tuttle is the second Ouachita Parish High graduate in the last two weeks to be killed while serving in Iraq.

Pfc. Bryant J. Haynes, 21, died June 26 in Al Diwaniyah, Iraq, of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover. He was assigned to the 199th Support Battalion of the Louisiana Army National Guard, based in Alexandria.
