NATCHEZ —Natchez aldermen approved Friday the setup of display crosses as part of an annual pro-life event.
The board unanimously approved the request of Virginia O’Beirne, who said 106 crosses would be placed on the northern end of the bluff — each representing the average number of abortions performed each hour in the United States.
O’Beirne said she has seen that figure decline since the movement began.
“Our little cross display is shrinking, which is good,” she said.
A pro-life candlelight vigil will take place at 5 p.m. on Jan. 25 inside the Natchez Grand Hotel.
