NATCHEZ — Drizzling rain quickly turned to snow flurries early Friday morning across the Natchez area.
A cold front that is moving through the area was forecast to bring increasingly colder temperatures throughout the day, but the surprise flakes caused area residents to stop and take note Friday morning.
Shortly after 8 a.m., the snow was falling on already wet surfaces and quickly melting. No significant accumulation is expected.
National Weather Service meteorologists expect the weather front to pass through the area soon, bringing sunnier skies as the clouds dissipate.
Temperatures today are expected to remain in the low- to mid-30s with high winds making it feel like the upper 20s.
Over the next few days the temperatures are expected to fall into the low 20s at night and rise to the upper 30s during the day.
