Local roundup: Close games highlight prep girls Tuesday

In an incredible comeback, the MAIS Class AAA Cathedral Lady Green Wave rallied from a 19-point halftime deficit to defeat the Class AAAA Copiah Academy Lady Colonels 53-52 Tuesday night.
Copiah Academy was in control throughout the first half and went into halftime with a commanding 35-16 advantage.
“We were absolutely horrendous in the first half,” head coach Peter Arnold said. “We came out of the locker room and got after it. We just dug in our toes and fought.”
Cathedral outscored Copiah Academy 14-4 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to just nine points 39-30 by quarter’s end. The Lady Green Wave continued to put the pressure on in the fourth quarter, taking as big as a four-point lead with about 40 seconds left.
“All the momentum was on our side. It’s just perseverance,” Arnold said. “It was a monumental comeback for us and a big confidence builder.”
Lessley Dooley, Caroline Kaiser and Ryleigh Probst led the Lady Green Wave with 10 points each. Dooley also had 24 rebounds while Kaiser had 10 rebounds and five assists.
Cathedral (14-4) plays host to Monterey at 6 p.m. Friday.
Natchez High 59, North Pike 57 (OT)
NATCHEZ — Led by Aja Carter and Candy Gray, the Natchez High Lady Bulldogs survived North Pike’s second-half rally to defeat the Lady Jaguars 59-57 in overtime Tuesday night.
Natchez High had a 33-23 halftime lead but North Pike outscored the Lady Bulldogs 16-7 in the third quarter to make it a one-point game at 40-39. The Lady Jaguars forced overtime with a 14-13 advantage in the fourth quarter. The Lady Bulldogs won the game thanks to a 6-4 advantage in the extra period.
Carter finished with a game-high 23 points and Gray added 17 points. The Lady Bulldogs (8-7) return to MHSAA Region 6-5A action Friday at 6 p.m. when they host Wingfield.
Trinity Episcopal 42, Rebul Academy 11
NATCHEZ — The Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints finally notched their first win of the season as they took care of the Rebul Academy Lady Raiders 42-11 in an MAIS District 4A game Tuesday night.
Cate Drane led Trinity Episcopal with a game-high 19 points and was the only player for either team to score in double figures. The Lady Saints jumped out to an 11-2 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back.
The Lady Saints (1-7, 1-2) visit cross-town rival Adams County Christian School Thursday at 6 p.m.
Brookhaven Academy 39, ACCS 38
NATCHEZ — Jana Case led Brookhaven Academy with a game-high 21 points and the Lady Cougars needed every one of them to hold on for a 39-38 win over the ACCS Lady Rebels Tuesday night.
ACCS went into halftime trailing Brookhaven Academy 28-16. But the Lady Rebels got back in the game with a 15-5 advantage in the third quarter to cut the deficit to two points 33-31. Unfortunately, they couldn’t muster enough offense in the fourth quarter to complete the rally.
Caitlyn Gamberi had 11 points while Lexie Emanuel and Brianna Henson had nine points for ACCS. The Lady Rebels (6-6) host Trinity Episcopal at 6 p.m. Thursday.
