According to holidayscalendar.com, “Women’s History Month is a month-long celebration of women’s contributions to society and history that is observed during the month of March in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and is observed during the month of October in Canada. In the U.S., it’s been officially celebrated since March of 1987.”

This is the inspiration for this year’s first Women’s History Month observance parade in Natchez.

In light of all of the negative news over the past few months about women being victims of sexual harassment by high profile males in American society, I proposed, to my sorority, an idea that I have had on my mind for years: Let’s do something that honors women in the Miss-Lou areas for their accomplishments!

My sorority colleagues agreed with my idea, and now the ladies of Chi Nu Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. are making plans to host a Women’s History Month Parade and celebration.

We are encouraging any sorority or female social, civic or religious group in the Miss-Lou Area to participate in the parade, as well as, sponsor an activity, with women in mind, for the month long observance.

Any business or entity is also encouraged to support the parade and participants in any way that they choose to. The parade will be at 11 a.m. on March 10 and there is a $25 registration fee.
