GLOSTER — Services for James C. “Jim” Wheeler, 76, of Woodville, who died Monday, May 2, 2011, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Warren Whitaker and the Rev. Stephen Deese officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville, with honors, under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m., today and from 9 a.m. until service time, both at the funeral home.
Mr. Wheeler was born Dec. 17, 1934, in Hattiesburg, the son of Corbert C. Wheeler and Myrtle Lee Wheeler. He was employed as a crane operator for Adams County Port.
Mr. Wheeler was Baptist.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Hazel Wheeler; his parents; two brothers, Earl Wheeler and Herman Ray Wheeler; and one sister, Ethel Kelly.
Survivors include his wife, Gaylon Carter Wheeler; four daughters, Marjorie Marcel and husband, Clyde, of Gulfport, Helen Clavier of Baton Rouge, Loretta Scott of Denham Springs, La., and Sandy Wheeler Lambert of French Settlement, La.; one son, James C. Wheeler Jr. and wife, Phillis D. Wheeler, of Gloster; three brothers, Charles Wheeler of Gloster, Roddis Wheeler of Crosby and Leroy “Butch” Wheeler of Centreville; one sister, Bettye Causey of Liberty; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, John, Carl, Sley, Alex, Thomas, Tristan and nephew, Paul.
