Ferriday girls, boys win district matchups, Natchez notches two wins

Anasia Turner scored 16 points, and Tierra Spurs added another 10 as the Ferriday High Lady Trojans defeated Delhi Charter Tuesday night on the road in their second district game of the season, 51-12.
Ferriday (14-3, 2-0) is ranked No. 3 in the latest LHSAA Class 2A Power Ratings, yet coach Lisa Abron said her team looked a little lackluster in the win.
“I wasn’t too pleased with the aggressiveness tonight,” she said. “We seemed a little too relaxed.”
The Lady Trojans held a comfortable 29-7 lead at halftime, pulling away for good in the third quarter by holding Delhi Charter scoreless in the period.
Zhane Green added an additional nine points for Ferriday in the win.
“We just didn’t seem too determined,” Abron said. “But, we will get there.”
Ferriday next plays General Trass at 6 p.m. Friday at home.
Ferriday (boys) 55, Delhi Charter 50
Ferriday High School held on to a 55-50 victory over district opponent Delhi charter Tuesday night.
Dantrieze Scott scored 18 points to lead the Trojans, and Marquell Griffin also ended in double digits with 13 points.
The Trojans (9-9, 2-0) will be back in action at 7:30 p.m. Friday when they host General Trass.
Natchez (girls) 48, Amite County 27
Candi Gray led the Natchez High Lady Bulldogs to a 48-27 win at Amite County Tuesday night.
Gray scored 15 points, while Aja Carter scored another 12 to seal the win.
Natchez (7-6) will play its first district game of the season at 6 p.m. Friday when it travels to Brookhaven.
Natchez (boys) 54, Amite County 43
Izzy Holmes scored 32 points for Natchez High Tuesday night in his team’s win over Amite County on the road, 54-43.
James Singleton added another 10 points for the Bulldogs in the win.
Natchez travels to Brookhaven Friday for its first district game of the season.
