NATCHEZ — An Adams County man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly beating his significant other with a phone.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Lt. Cal Green said deputies arrested Patrick Dewayne Farmer, 51, 19 Grafton Heights Road, Wednesday afternoon on a charge of aggravated domestic violence.
Farmer reportedly beat the woman in the head with the phone, though Green could not specify what type of phone was allegedly used.
Green added that deputies believe alcohol played a role in fueling the violence.
Deputies reported that the woman had been holding some money for Christmas presents, but after giving Farmer back the money, he accused her of stealing it.
He then allegedly beat her with the phone, and she subsequently was transported to Merit Health Natchez to treat lacerations to the face and scalp.
“(Farmer) caused some pretty serious damage to her,” Green said.
Green said to her knowledge, the woman was still at the hospital as of late Thursday afternoon.
Green also said Farmer was being held on a $50,000 bond — set by Justice Court Judge Eileen Mary Maher — as of Thursday evening. Green said the alleged victim would be notified whenever Farmer is released from jail.
Green said Wednesday’s arrest of Farmer is the latest mark on a long laundry list of arrests dating back to 1999 including grand larceny, sale of methamphetamines, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous parole violations.
