NATCHEZ — The Mississippi Economic Council is coming to Natchez to connect with local business and community leaders as part of its annual tour around the state.
Members of the state’s chamber of commerce will host a free lunch meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan.9 at the Hotel Vue.
The public is invited to attend, but pre-registration is required at www.mec.ms or by texting “MECTour” to 955-77.
MEC leaders will focus on economic development, job creation, business climate and transportation and infrastructure issues. The meeting will also discuss workforce success, healthy living and programs that make difference in the community.
Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce President Debbie Hudson said the chamber and Natchez Inc. team up to encourage MEC to visit the area each year.
“Those who attend like to be a part of the annual survey as well as learn about different concerns of the state,” Hudson said.
Sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi, the tour has already made stops in Greenville, Starkville, Gulfport, Meridian and other cities across the state.
