FERRIDAY — Services for Anna Catherine Rife, 60, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Sherman Stuart officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Ms. Rife was born Sept. 3, 1957, in Natchez, the daughter of Robert S. “Bob” Rife Jr. and Evelyn O. Rife.
Anna was a graduate of Huntington High School and a graduate of Louisiana Tech University (LTU) with a degree in accounting. She was employed as an accountant for the Natchez Historic Foundation until the time of her death. Anna also served on the board of directors and the advisory board of directors for the Natchez Little Theatre.
She was a faithful lifelong member of Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer. Anna was also a certified lay speaker for years, serving the Methodist churches in a number of parishes. In addition, she served in the Cursillo Ministry and fostered Christian friendships with its members.
Anna was an avid football and basketball fan. She especially loved the LTU Bulldogs and Louisiana State University Tigers. When it came to basketball, she was a true Duke Blue Devil fan like no other. She loved and was loved by her family and will be dearly missed by all of her family as well as her church family and friends in the Miss Lou area.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, Robert S. Rife and Maggie Rife; and maternal grandparents, John Wesley and Lucille Ogden.
Survivors include two brothers, retired Lt. Col. Robert S. “Stan” Rife III and wife, Peggy, of Little Elm, Texas, and John O. Rife, of Ferriday; two nephews, Jason Rife and wife, Erin, of Gainsville, Fla., and Adam Rife and wife, Hayley, of Frisco, Texas; two great-nieces, Kathryn Rife and Allie Rife; and one great-nephew, Owen Rife.
Pallbearers will be Lee Rife, Russel Shaffer, David Caston, Rick Osborne, Buddy Tanner, Ron Miller, Don Ater and Wayne Miley.
Memorials may be made to Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
