In his final year under center for the Bulldogs, Scott completed 99-of-165 passes for 1,421 yards and 10 touchdowns with four interceptions. He also added 156 yards on the ground on 27 carries.

Scott said he learned from head coach Roy Rigsby skills that extend past football.

“The biggest thing (he taught me) is having good character and learning how to lead a team,” Scott said. “That’s the biggest thing. He showed me that playing quarterback is more than playing quarterback. You’ve got people looking up to you, so you’ve got to (go a) step above.”

Outside of football, Scott plans to major in mechanical engineering, with a particularl interest in automobiles.

“Just learning the basics of a car — I always used to fix things when I was little, so why not a car?” he said.

Scott said he landed on EMCC in large part due to the recruiting efforts of Lions quarterbacks coach and former Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace.

“He did a good job. We related well and we studied film together,” Scott said.

Scott said the past four years at Natchez High have taught him persistence.

“It just showed me that whatever life throws at you, you just never give up,” Scott said.
