She was born very premature. The mid-wife advised her parents “not to get attached,” and that she would not make it; however, God had other plans. She lived 96 wonderful years. She has shared history with her family from being born during World War I and living through World War II and the Great Depression, and proudly seeing a son serve his country in Vietnam.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Harrison Robertson, who died in March of 1962 and second husband, Robert Lee Cranfield, who died in January of 1998; three children, William “Landis” Robertson, Kenneth “Pete” Robertson and Alice Robertson Leggett Montgomery; one grandson, Kenneth “Dean” Leggett; and one great-grandson, Bradley Lee Robertson.

Survivors include one step-daughter, Anita Jeanette Cranfield; four grandchildren, Roger Lee Robertson, Michael Robertson, Melissa Robertson Smith and Angela Leggett McGuffie; six great-grandchildren, Brandi Robertson Williford, Joshua Smith, Jason Leggett, Daniel Leggett, Andrea Leggett Tillman and Rick “Matt” McGuffie and great-great-grandchildren, Brooks Williford, Clayton Smith, Chloe Smith, Dylan Leggett, Sandra Leggett, Elijah Dean Leggett, Tyler Tillman, Alyssa Tillman, Shooter Tillman, Bralynn Leggett, Jaidyn Leggett, Brody Leggett and Brice Leggett.

She has been a resident of Silver Cross Nursing Home since July 22, 2005. The family of Nettie Cranfield would like to thank each of the staff members at Silver Cross Nursing Home. The love and tender care given to our family member is greatly appreciated and unsurpassed in compassion and care. Each of you made her a part of the Silver Cross family and made “home” a wonderful place to live. We are so grateful for the “Angels” that work there and take such great care of the residents. We also want to thank Hospice Compassus of McComb for all of the love, prayers and care given.
