NATCHEZ — For Ginger Hyland’s guests, finding something one-of-a-kind at The Towers is not only likely — it is guaranteed.
For 10 years, Hyland has been sharing her love of costume jewelry and the holidays with family, friends and the many guests who have visited her houses.
Introduced in California and continued in Santa Fe, N.M., Hyland has taken her Jeweled Christmas tours to a whole new level after she moved to the Towers in 2006.
Each Christmas, Hyland fills nearly every nook and cranny with vintage jewelry, handcrafted decorations and one-of-a-kind showpieces made specifically for Hyland and her display. The effect is a sparkling wonderland of jewels and lavish decorations.
“If I am going to be this eccentric, over-the-top collector, I need to share it,” Hyland said. “I love the hunt, the search, finding the unique and the different.”
She also enjoys sharing stories — stories about various vintage crowns and scepters from past Mardi Gras and from new pieces that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
With decorating expertise from James Forde, Hyland said the holiday display continues to get better each year.
Most of all, Hyland said she likes to see the look of joy and wonder in her guests’ faces when they first see the decorations.
“I get the biggest kick watching you see something you haven’t seen before,” she said.
