NATCHEZ — The mother of a 4-year-old boy has been arrested after her son was allegedly beaten, suffering multiple bruises and scratches.
She is the second person charged in the alleged child abuse.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported that Bria Ferguson turned herself into authorities Thursday on a warrant for felony child abuse.
Derrick Dobbins, who is reportedly Ferguson’s boyfriend, was arrested Tuesday on the same offense. ACSO Maj. Jerry Brown said Wednesday deputies believe Dobbins caused the young boy’s injuries.
The biological father of the 4-year-old reportedly discovered the bruises and abrasions on his son and reported the incident to the sheriff’s office.
Both the ACSO and Mississippi Department of Human Services investigated the case.
