NATCHEZ — A 10-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten with a metal baseball bat by his uncle has undergone surgery and his status has reportedly improved.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said the boy had surgery Monday, though whether his life is no longer in danger remains uncertain.
Deputies found the boy lying in blood on a couch Sunday evening, subsequently arresting Joseph Washington Jr., 21, 7 Rounds Lane, Sibley, on a charge of attempted murder. Washington is being held at the Adams County Jail with no bond pending an investigation.
