NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies early Thursday morning arrested a Natchez man who allegedly purposefully ran over two people with his vehicle.
Frank Kaiser Lucas, 52, 25 Bluegrass Drive, was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon after he reportedly hit two individuals with his Honda Accord in the parking lot of Broadmoor Grocery, located at 103 Broadmoor Drive.
ACSO Maj. Jerry Brown said at approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday, the sheriff’s office received a call about the collision, which he said was no accident.
“(Lucas) had done it intentionally,” Brown said.
After the alleged assault, Lucas fled the scene in his vehicle, Brown said. Multiple people reportedly witnessed the crime, and some followed Lucas after he drove away, Brown said.
“Some of the witnesses followed him over to Carpenter Apartments, where he was arrested,” Brown said.
Brown said officials are still investigating Lucas’ motivation for allegedly running over the two individuals.
Lucas reportedly became involved in another altercation prior to the alleged crime also at Broadmoor Grocery with individuals separate of the assault, though deputies have yet to determine the cause of that dispute as well.
One of the two individuals refused treatment while another was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Brown said.
As of Thursday evening, Lucas was being held in the county jail with no bond set.
