NATCHEZ — In an attempt to reclaim storage space overtaken by surplus hospital equipment, Natchez Regional Medical Center is having a garage sale.

Well, not exactly.

Regional’s Chief Administrating Officer Bruce Buchanan said from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until noon on Friday, the hospital will be selling off its unused inventory.

“It’s mostly office furniture, hospital beds and some medical equipment,” Buchanan said. “Right now it’s not being used and it’s taking up a lot of space. Since we don’t need it, we’re making it available to the public.”

Buchanan said it’s not uncommon for hospitals to sell their unused property.

Regional’s Senior Vice President Lana Morgan said money from the sale will be used to purchase new furniture and supplies for the hospital.

Morgan projects the sale will net up to $4,000 for the hospital.

All items sold at the hospital’s sale must be picked up by 5 p.m. on Friday.

“Right now we just want to get this stuff out of here,” Morgan said.
