Vidalia High keeps momentum with win over 4A Tiago, 26-20

VIDALIA — Cam’ron Randall had 23 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner from five yards out with 7:36 remaining, as the LHSAA Class 2A Vidalia Vikings upset the Class 4A Tioga Indians 26-20 Friday night.
David Martinez had tied the game at 20-20 with 11:09 to go in the game on a 23-yard field goal. That capped off Tioga’s rally after being down 20-10 with 8:47 left in the third quarter when Vidalia’s Devin Green scored on a 50-yard run and Leo Lozano added the extra point.
But it was the Vikings’ defense that stepped up after Randall’s second score of the game, holding the Indians (5-3) out of the end zone the rest of the game.
Green finished with 133 rushing yards on 28 carries. Tristan Weatherly went 15-for-28 passing for 222 yards with one interception as well as one rushing touchdown. As a team, Vidalia (7-1) had 493 yards of total offense and an astounding 24 first downs.
Randall scored on a six-yard touchdown run with 1:14 left in the first quarter that gave the Vikings their first lead of the game.
Vidalia plays host to Mangham for a key district match-up next Friday with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
