CLAYTON — A Clayton man was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated rape and possession of marijuana.
Maurice Rene Long Sr., 51, 175 Louisiana 900, Clayton, was arrested by the Clayton Police Department. No bond had been set Friday afternoon.
Clayton Police Chief Bobby Madison said a woman filed a report with the department Oct. 11 stating that Long had raped her.
The woman was taken to Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, where Madison said nurses reportedly found evidence of a forcible rape.
Madison said Lt. John Mitchell made the arrest Thursday, at which time Long was reportedly found in possession of marijuana.
“It’s an ongoing investigation,” Madison said. “We’re still going through all the witnesses and finding out what happened.”
