You make government what it is

A government of the people, by the people and for the people is only as good as, well, the people want to make it.
And the best way for people to make an impact on their government is through communicating their wants, needs and desires to those among us who represent us all in government.
Natchez area residents will get a chance to do just that Tuesday as U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) visits Natchez as part of a statewide series of town hall meetings. He will meet with constituents at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Natchez Convention Center.
Neither Wicker nor his staff has set an agenda. So the agenda is up to the people of the district who show up.
Given the national debate on proposed health care reform legislation currently being considered, it’s almost a certainty that health care will be among the most prominent topics on Tuesday.
We hope, however, that citizens will show respect for both the Senator, his staff and their fellow citizens by being civil with one another — regardless of whether or not they agree on a topic.
Remember, that the United States has the best form of government created, but it’s only as good as its people are involved.
