NATCHEZ — Graveside services and celebration of 100 years of life for Evelyn Wall Turner, of Ferriday, formerly of West Monroe, La., who died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah, La., will be 10 a.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Canon Gregg L. Riley officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Turner was born Feb. 19, 2017, in Monroe, the daughter of Charles Gray Wall and Rose Fields Gonzales Wall.

She was an active charter member of Grace Episcopal Church in Waterproof where she taught Sunday school, and was also a member of the PTA. She was a homemaker and helped run the family farm. She enjoyed horseback riding, traveling and was an avid marksman.

Mrs. Turner was an “expert gameshow viewer” who had a love for trivia. Even at the age of 100, she could solve the puzzle on “Wheel of Fortune” before the contestants. She served as maid on the homecoming court and was also a beauty of Louisiana Tech University. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, entertaining friends and playing Bridge with her Bridge girls at Panola Woods Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Arch Turner Jr.; one son, Harry “Sonny” Arch Turner III; one brother, C.G. Wall Jr.; and two sisters, Joycelyn Wall Garrett and Laura Bell Wall Alexander.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlaine Yerger of Tallulah; one son, Charles Edward “Bo” Turner and wife, Melody, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one daughter-in-law, Jane Rogers Turner of Ferriday; one son-in-law, William Yerger Jr. of Vicksburg; six grandchildren, Blakely Arch Turner and wife, Elizabeth, of Natchez, Jill Turner Clark and husband, Roger, of Rogers, Ark., Nina Charlaine Yerger of Tallulah, Jason Arch Yerger and wife, Robyn, of Vicksburg, J.T. Turner and Rachel Turner, both of Chattanooga; six great-grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth King, Brittany Ann Rogel, Brooks Elizabeth Turner, Jackson McGehee, Jay Schaaf and Arch Turner Yerger; three great-great-grandchildren, Camp, Collins and Kaylee; two sisters, Rose Marie Wall Kern and Annie Mae Wall Rhodes; close family friend and companion, Victoria Taylor of Smiths, Ala.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
