Good news fills area Easter basket

What comes after Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday?
Great Monday, of course.
We hope the holiday season gave everyone a chance to slow down and remember what’s really important. And now, as we start a new week with the reminder that our Lord is risen, nothing can get us down.
On top of that, last week brought plenty of great news to make us smile. Let’s review a few headlines.
– The Legacy Tribute Banquet honored Dr. John R. Todd, the Rev. Leon Howard, Alfred Hunter, Thelma Latham, Harry Lee Gaylor, Willie Minor and Everett Sanders Friday night for their contributions to the community. We are thankful to those who were honored and to those who realize the importance of recognizing great work.
– Morgan McCranie, 16, has a hobby she loves and that can generate a few dollars on the side. The young photographer recently won a competition sponsored through her church for a beautiful photo of the bridge. Congratulations Morgan.
– The Miss-Lou egg hunt drew a crowd of more than 700 parents and children. Thanks to Bobby Ewing and his volunteers for making this fun annual event a reality.
– Twelve young adults graduated from the Youth Build program, where they learned life skills that can help them find a job or complete their GED. This program helps rehabilitate young people on which many people may have given up, but it’s obvious their futures are a bright as they choose to make them.
As we close out April, we hope everyone will remember that this — and every day to come — is great.
