Sicily Island drops district contest to Delhi High, 44-14

DELHI, La. — The Delhi High School Bears won their second straight game by defeating the Sicily Island High School Tigers 44-14 in an LHSAA District 2-1A game Friday night.
Delhi (2-5, 2-2) was only up 6-0 after one quarter of play before scoring 20 straight points in the second quarter. Sicily Island got in the end zone late in the first half to trail 26-6 at the break. The Tigers scored again in the third quarter to make it a 26-14 game.
However, the Bears responded with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter that ended the Tigers’ comeback attempt.
Sicily Island (3-5, 0-4) will be on the road next Friday when it plays at new district opponent Cedar Creek at 7 p.m.
