FERRIDAY — Services for Freda P. Jenkins, 80, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. today at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Justin Conner officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Jenkins was born March 24, 1937, in Ferriday, the daughter of Greene and Daisy Woodard Pannell.

She was retired from Concordia Parish School System as a special education secretary. She was also the church secretary at Mercy Seat Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Devon Jenkins; and a number of siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Sylvester Jenkins; one son, Duane Jenkins of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Sheri Lynn Jenkins of Chicago and Shaun LeJune Jenkins of Atlanta; two brothers, Leon Pannell and wife, Carolyn, and Gerald Pannell and wife, Valerie; three sisters, Barbara Pannell, Vanessa Pannell Smith and husband, Peter, and Wanda Gray and husband, Kerry, all of New Orleans; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
