Brown said two house fires on Tuesday reportedly stem from a domestic dispute and investigators detected an accelerant at the scene, though Brown was not specific in which type.

Brown said the person of interest was allegedly trying to burn one house down, but the fire spread to a second, causing it to burn also.

Natchez firefighters were called to the scene of a fully engulfed house fire at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at 96 Oak St. The blaze caught an adjacent house on fire as crews worked the scene.

Brown said no one was hurt. The house at 96 Oak St. was unoccupied, he said. Brown said he did not know if anyone was at the second residence when the fire was started.
