NATCHEZ — Services for Richard James Nelson “Slim” Frazier, 34, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Richard was born Sept. 30, 1983, the son of Richard J. Frazier Sr. and Carolyn Mayfield. He was educated in the Natchez Public School District. He also enjoyed playing basketball, dancing and listening to music.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother; grandmother, Gertrude Frazier; grandfathers, Jimmy Williams and Andrew Nelson; aunt, Evelyn Profice; three uncles, John Redd Jr., Carl Wayne Nelson and Darren Christopher Williams; and three great-uncles, James Edward Frazier, Henry Frazier and David Frazier.
Survivors include his father and stepmother Valarie Frazier; three sons, Rich’ard Ja’mes Frazier, Rashawn Semaj Frazier and James Cortez Frazier; one daughter, Riniya Kimbré Woodfork; special friend, Shenetta Glover; grandmother, Leola Nelson; step-grandmother, Althea Jones; four aunts, Michele Green and husband, Orlando, Delores Johnson and husband, Otis, Brenda Nelson and husband, Tyrone, and Michelle Mayfield; five uncles, Charles Frazier, Kenneth Nelson, Christopher Nelson, Gary Nelson and wife, Eunice, and Percy Ransom; two great-aunts, Viola Frazier of Chicago and Inez Robinson and daughter, Karen Hill, of Georgia; and other relatives and friends.
