DENHAM SPRINGS, La. — Byron Milligan had over 300 yards of total offense and three total touchdowns, but it was not enough as the Class 2A Ferriday Trojans suffered their first loss of the season to the Class 5A Denham Springs Yellowjackets 43-28 Friday night.
Milligan had 20 carries for 187 yards and two touchdowns and he completed four of eight passes for 114 yards and one touchdown. But Ferriday, the No. 1 team in the Class 2A power ratings and the No. 4 team in the LSWA Class 2A poll, found itself behind the eight ball the entire ball game.
Denham Springs (5-1) recorded two safeties in the early part of the game and led the Trojans 20-6 at halftime. The Yellowjackets led 30-12 after three quarters of play and answered each rally attempt that Ferriday tried in the fourth quarter.
Ferriday (5-1) hosts Concordia Parish rival Vidalia next Friday at 7 p.m.
