VIDALIA — Services for Johnnie Edward “Poppa” Minor, 67, of Vidalia, who died at Merit Health Natchez, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Johnny Elery officiating.      

Burial with military honors will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Minor was born in Vidalia, the son of Isaac and Irma Hamilton Minor.

He was a certified water plant operator for the City of Vidalia. He was also a member of Zion Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Minor was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Curtis; and one grandson, Kelsey Minor Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Bevily Minor; two sons, Johnnie Minor II and wife, Ashley, of Vidalia, and Kelsey Minor and wife, Gloria, of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Sherian Minor Battle and husband, Victor, of Ypsilanta, Mich.; stepdaughter, Shelia Dye and husband, Andrew, of Vidalia; two brothers, Alvin Moore and wife, Ana, of Baltimore, Md., and Donald Moore and wife, Cathy, of Mesquite, Texas; four sisters, Majorie Craddock of Los Angles, Maude Hooker and husband, Donell, of Jackson, Sarah Matthews and husband, James, and Rosemary Minor, all of Baton Rouge; a niece he raised as his own daughter, Marquita Johnson and husband, Corey, of Pearl; nine grandchildren, Diamond Moses, Kaycee Minor, Madison Minor, Kelsie Minor, all of Baton Rouge, JohnToyrian Minor, Aubree Minor, both of Vidalia, Cordell Minor, Shapaula Minor Jones, Horation Jones, all of Ypsilanti; MaKylah Johnson and Camiyah Johnson, both of Pearl; one great-grandchild, Jamar Johnson of Pearl; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
