MONTEREY — Funeral services for Irene Loy Lee, 78, of Monterey, who died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesady at New Era Baptist Church with Jack Knapp and Bruce Lofton officiating.

Burial will follow at New Era Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.

Mrs. Lee was born on Thursday, Nov. 24, 1938, in Shaw, the daughter of Ellis Lacour Knapp and Dora Maine Mills Knapp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest Lee; son, Michael Lee; and sister, Sharon “Noonie” Morace.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Lee Bell and husband, Rick, of British Columbia, Canada, and Debbi Lee Hamilton and husband, Keith, of Monterey; three brothers, Melvin “Pee Winkle” Knapp and wife, Wanda Gay, Alton “Bubba” Knapp and Ellis “Dookie” Knapp and wife, Beverly, all of Monterey; three sisters, Scarlett Fitzgerald and husband, Graydon, of Bernice, La., Evelyn Smith of Denham Springs, La., and Cathy Richerson and husband, Robin, of Perdido Key, Ala.; granddaughter Kristie Hamilton Lee and husband, Jeremy, of Brookhaven; one great-grandson Carter  Lee; and two great-granddaughters, Laken Thompson and Mia Lee. Special thanks to special family and friends, Brandy Thompson of Monterey, Lindsey Poole and husband, Ron, of Monterey, and their children Kennedy, Camryn, and Ben and JoAnn Lancaster of Monterey, for her lifelong friendship.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Kevin Ingram and his staff for their dedicated care and friendship for many years.

Pallbearers will be Keith Hamilton, Jeremy Lee, Ryan Thompson, Cameron King, Ron Poole and Bubba Knapp.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Kevin Ingram, Otis Morace and Dennis Morace.
