CLINTON — Two Natchez churches teamed up to recently send 14 children to a Mississippi College summer camp.
The children who took part in the Centri-Kid camp on the Clinton campus came from Parkway Baptist Church and Cliff Temple Baptist Church.
The Centri-Kid camps come under the umbrella of Lifeway Christian Resources of Nashville. The summer camps, ending in late July, combined Bible study with sports on the Quad and activities at the Baptist Healthplex. The visitors stayed overnight in residence halls and at in the campus cafeteria.
Most of the children were in grades 2-6.
Every summer Mississippi College welcomes about 10,000 campers from 14 Southern states to its Clinton campus.
Emily Hicks of Natchez said her favorite camp activity was definitely an event dubbed OMC or Organized Mass Chaos. The name of the fun game says it all.
Among other popular activities, campers say, were the worship services in MC’s Swor Auditorium, and the fun dips in the pool. The weather was steamy and rainy at times, but the campers and chaperones loved their stay at MC.
“We did enjoy our stay at MC. It’s a great campus,” said Clinton Pomeroy, one of the Natchez camp leaders. “The people were first rate.”
The Natchez group spent five days at Baptist-affiliated MC.
