NATCHEZ — Two people were reportedly shot by a shotgun Thursday night, suffering what was described as non-life threatening injuries.
Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said the two victims were struck by pellets consistent with shotgun fire. Armstrong said officers were investigating the incident but the victims were being uncooperative. Armstrong said late Thursday no one had been arrested.
The shooting occurred within a 10-minute timeframe before 8 p.m., Armstrong said.
Neighbors in the area said they heard shots ring out, referring to a house near Lewis Drive and Old Providence Road. One woman said she heard four or five shots, but no one on the scene could provide an eyewitness account.
Armstrong said he did not have an exact location or many details on the incident Thursday night. Armstrong said he did not know if the victims went to a hospital for treatment.
“This is all preliminary,” Armstrong said. “It will probably be tomorrow (Friday) before we have more information.”
