Gun recovered in Vidalia arrest

VIDALIA — Vidalia officers arrested a Natchez man Sunday and later discovered the man had in his possession a gun reported stolen from Adams County.

Vidalia Police Department spokeswoman Lt. Miranda Clifton said officers initiated a traffic stop for improper lane usage at 9:19 p.m. Sunday on Carter Street.

While officers were speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, they smelled an odor they believed to be marijuana and observed drug paraphernalia in plain view.

The driver, Roderick Brady, 27, 12 Abbott St., allegedly provided officers with a false name and was subsequently arrested.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located marijuana, body armor and a firearm. After checking the weapon, officers found it had reportedly been stolen.

Brady was charged with improper lane usage, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of body armor by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of controlled substances in the presence of a minor and resting by giving false information.

Brady was being held at the Concordia Parish Jail Monday with no bond set.
