BASTROP, La. — Kent King scored two touchdowns and R.J. Fleming added three touchdowns as the Trinity Episcopal Saints rolled to a 48-7 win over the Prairie View Academy Spartans Friday night.
Trinity (1-0) jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter as Givonni Dent threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to King and a 44-yard touchdown pass to Fleming. Fleming then scored on an 89-yard punt return with just over two minutes remaining in the quarter.
Chas Moroney was good on all three extra points.
Prairie View’s only points of the game were courtesy of an 8-yard touchdown run by Robby Jones and Sam Spires’ extra point early in the second quarter.
Jordan Dossett scored on a 1-yard run and Dent connected with Brandon Daggs on a 34-yard scoring pass with 1:00 left in the second quarter as the Saints went into halftime with a comfortable 35-7 lead.
The Saints’ defense was also dominating as they held the Spartans to a mere 55 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers.
But the Saints weren’t done yet.
King scored on a 61-yard run and Fleming scored on another long punt return, this one an 80-yarder to give them a 48-7 lead.
King finished with seven carries for 101 yards to lead Trinity’s ground game, which amassed 214 yards. Dent completed seven-of-11 passes for 130 yards and Fleming caught four passes for 63 yards.
