Cathedral aims to rebound on road

Despite falling for its only loss of the season last week to Simpson Academy, Cathedral coach Chuck Darbonne said the Green Wave has put that in the past.
“We have erased that from our memory, and we are working on things we didn’t do well,” he said. “I really think we have worked on forgetting our mistakes.”
Cathedral (4-1) will travel this week as it heads to face MAIS-AAAA Copiah Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
Darbonne said the matchup has a little more at stake.
“Me and their head coach (Paul Anderson) are best friends,” he said. “We talk twice a week, and I worked under him for four years, so there is a lot on the line between us.”
Additionally, this week is slated as Copiah’s (2-3) homecoming game.
“There’s also extra incentive to ruin someone’s homecoming,” Darbonne said.
Darbonne also said this week will serve as a continued stepping stone in building a program.
“Our focus is right and I’m not too sure why is didn’t play out last Friday,” he said. “Our offensive and defensive line will be the key. If we win up front, we should have a good night. They might dress out a few more kids than us, but physically I think we are right there with them. I think we match up pretty well.”
