NATCHEZ — While on post release supervision, an Adams County woman allegedly burglarized J&H Car Sales on U.S. 61 and several vehicles in the area.
Jean O’Quinn, 49, 54 Starnes Drive, was charged with burglary of a business and two counts of burglary of an automobile.
O’Quinn was sentenced Sept. 6 to 15 years for burglary of a dwelling, 10 years for grand larceny and 5 years for possession of a stolen vehicle to run concurrent. She was released on Sept. 7.
At approximately 2 a.m. Friday, Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies were notified by the business owner that his alarm system showed a burglary in progress at J&H Car Sales on 615 U.S. 61 North. The suspect had fled the scene by the time deputies arrived.
However, after reviewing surveillance footage, the deputies were able to identify O’Quinn, who they were familiar with from previous arrests.
Deputies arrested O’Quinn at 8 a.m. in Broadmoor. Upon arrest, deputies allegedly discovered two debit cards in her possession that belonged to other individuals along with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Investigators contacted the owners of the cards and both said the cards had been inside their vehicles, which they then discovered had been burglarized.
Post release supervision is a different version of probation where O’Quinn would have to report to a probation officer.
Sheriff Travis Patten said Saturday he could not comment on the judge’s decision as to why O’Quinn was released.
Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders is currently in session.
