NATCHEZ — Services for Debra Smith Plater, 51, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at her residence, were Saturday at New Birth Christian Center, with the Rev. Nelda Mason officiating.

Burial followed at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Natchez.

Mrs. Plater was born March 4, 1966, in Natchez, the daughter of Mary B. Mitchell and Alfred Smith Sr. She was a member of Spirit of God ministries.

Mrs. Plater was preceded in death by her father and one grandson, Jeremiah Washington.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Plater; her mother; three daughters, Shanturia Thornton and husband, Oliver, Monique Day and husband, Timothy, and Tatyana Marsaw; nine grandchildren, Caleb Thornton, Aniya Marsaw, Samiya Marsaw, Antonia Lewis, Olivia Thornton, Nivia Thornton, Caliv Thornton, Christian Thornton and Jakarta Lewis; one brother, Alfred Smith; five sisters, Sandra Smith, Ivy Mills, Shermeeka Mitchell, Tonia Givens and Diane Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
