The Centreville Academy Tigers will look for their first two-game winning streak of the season when they travel to Central, La. to take on the Central Private School Rebels. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. tonight.

Centreville (2-2) is coming off an impressive 38-14 win over Ben’s Ford Christian School. Central Private (3-1) is on a two-game winning streak of its own after shutting out Porter’s Chapel Academy on the road 41-0 last week.

Tigers offensive coordinator Will McNabb said there were a lot of good things that came out of last week’s game at Ben’s Ford.

“We got to work on our passing game a little bit. Our younger guys got to play in the second half (after going up 32-0 at halftime). We got some experience from them. Offensive line was really good last week. B.J. Parent and Ashby Schwartz played good for us up there,” McNabb said.

McNabb said the passing game showed a lot of improvement last week after lackluster performances against MAIS Class AAAA teams Oak Forest Academy and Parklane Academy the previous two weeks.

“Our quarterback (Tyler Thomassie) had more time to throw the ball. Our receivers ran their routs harder,” McNabb said.

Unlike Centreville, Central Private’s offense relies on the running game with an array backs to deal with.

“We have to stop the run. We have to make them throw the ball. They only throw it five or six times a game. They have a couple (of running backs) that are quick and they have a few that are big and physical,” McNabb said.

McNabb also described the Rebels’ defense as physical.

“From what we’ve seen on film, we haven’t seen anybody move the ball on them. We’ll have to move the ball and see what goes from there,” McNabb said.
