FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man was in jail Wednesday after allegedly threatening a man over “interest money” he felt the victim owed him.

Roosevelt Holmes, 36, 727 Virginia Ave., was charged with aggravated assault.

Ferriday Police Department Investigator Richard Madison said the victim reportedly borrowed $50 from Holmes several months ago and had been out of town.

When Holmes saw the victim and his girlfriend walking on Georgia Avenue at approximately 12:15 p.m., Madison said Holmes reportedly approached the victim.

Madison said the victim reportedly paid the $50 to Holmes, but Holmes allegedly wanted additional interest money.

When the victim reportedly said to Holmes he had paid Holmes what he owed him, Madison said Holmes allegedly pulled out his gun and demanded more money.

Madison said Holmes eventually walked away after allegedly intimidating the victim and his girlfriend.

Madison said no one was injured.

Madison said Ferriday police did not recover a gun and that the incident was still under investigation.

Holmes was in the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail Wednesday with no bond set.
