Sicily Island tops Block in Catahoula Parish matchup

The Sicily Island High School Tigers rallied from a 14-8 deficit to defeat the Block High School Bears 28-22 Friday night despite the effort of Block quarterback Zorian Bowie.
Sicily Island scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter while holding Block to a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
“I thought they wanted it more than we did. They took it to us,” Bears head coach Josh Loy said. “We had our opportunities. We’ll use this as a learning experience. We’re young, and we have a lot of games left.”
Bowie did his best to lead the Bears to victory in the battle of new Catahoula Parish rivals. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns to go with 12 carries for 83 yards. Tyreke Harbor had two catches for 42 yards and one touchdown while Josiah Anderson had five catches for 53 yards and one touchdown.
Sicily Island (1-1) hosts LaSalle High School at 7 p.m. next Friday. Block (0-2) plays at Jena High School next Friday with kickoff at 7 p.m.
