Mr. and Mrs. Dan Swindell of Nashville, Tenn., announce the engagement of their daughter, Carly Alise Swindell to Peter T. Burns III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Burns of Natchez.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Hume-Fogg High School in Nashville and a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She is a ceramicist and painter and is employed as a multi-media designer at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Swindell and Ms. Cheryl Taylor and the late Mr. William J. Barrett.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Cathedral High School in Natchez and a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. He is employed as a farmer by Bells Bend Farms of Nashville.

He is the grandson of Mr. James W. Overton, the late Bethany L. Overton, the late Waldo P. Lambdin, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter T. Burns Sr., all of Natchez.

The wedding will be 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at The Old School in Nashville. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony.
