Natchez High Bulldogs look to improve to 3-0

Natchez High School is 2-0 for the first time since 2014.
The Bulldogs are looking to make it 3-0 tonight when they host undefeated Port Gibson.
With wins in their first two contests, the Bulldogs have already eclipsed their win total from a season ago.
“It’s always good to win, but last year is last year,” NHS coach Roy Rigsby said. “We’re not concerned about last year. This summer we learned form last year, and when we started the season, we let last year go.”
Natchez rolled past Wilkinson County 39-0 in its opener before pulling away from Jefferson County in the second half of last week’s contest, 40-20.
“It was more so about what we needed to do,” Rigsby said. “We concentrated on that at halftime — to become more assignment oriented, and it paid off.”
Port Gibson (2-0) meanwhile topped Gentry a week ago, 14-6.
“I see an aggressive team that knows how to win,” Rigsby said of the Blue Waves. “I doubt they’re going to catch us by surprise; they are a pretty good team.”
Kickoff is set 7 p.m.
