NATCHEZ — The District Attorney’s office asked a circuit court judge Friday to revoke or increase the bond for a man arrested in connection with dog knapping.

Charoyd Henrence Bell, 27, was arrested Tuesday charged with larceny. He is accused of stealing nine dogs approximately a month ago. As of Friday evening, Bell was being held at the Natchez City Jail on a $25,000 bond.

Friday afternoon the DA’s office filed a petition in Adams County Circuit Court to have Bell’s bond revoked or increased because Bell is currently out on bond pending indictment for a previous dog fighting charge.

Bell was also previously charged with stealing two horses, the petition says.

Bell was arrested in March 2016 for felony cruelty to animals, after online photos surfaced reportedly showing Bell holding puppies by the scruff of their neck, the skin of their back and upside down by their tail.

In July, police arrested Bell after receiving an anonymous tip of dog-fighting activity. Bell was charged again with cruelty to animals (dog fighting).

The petition asks the court for a probable cause determination to be conducted on Bell’s new charges and revoke or increase his bond because Bell poses a danger to the community because he has been charged with other felony offenses while being out on bond.
