NATCHEZ — A Natchez restaurant was burglarized over the weekend, though the culprits made off only with some money from the tip jar.
Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said officers responded to a call at the Bellemont Shake Shop, located at 175 U.S. 61, Monday at approximately 11:46 a.m.
Armstrong said the employees had arrived at work and discovered that someone had used a brick to break into a window.
Armstrong said officers determined that the burglary occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning.
But hardly anything was missing from the establishment, Armstrong said.
“It seems that what was taken was some money from the tip jar — that’s all,” Armstrong said.
Armstrong said he did not know the exact amount of money taken, but that it was “probably not much.”
Armstrong said the case is being actively investigated and anyone with information about the crime should call the Natchez Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
