NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Fleeta Beth Thomas, 79, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, were 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Burial followed under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thomas was born Aug. 21, 1937. in Covington County, the daughter of JD. Sullivan and Selma Sullivan. She was retired from Natchez Tourism where she was a tour guide at Longwood for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Denton “Flop” Thomas; one stepson, Jeff Thomas; best friend and former sister-in-law, Margie Gilbert; two special nephews, Charles “Tookie” Gilbert and Steve Gilbert; and her former husband, Luther Gilbert Sr., the father of her two sons.
Survivors included her sons, Luther Gilbert Jr. and Lloyd Gilbert and friend Bennie Boone, all of Natchez; four sisters, Dorothy Gill of Collins, Georgena Lott of Laurel, Eva Malcolm and husband, Charles, of Waxhaw, N.C., and Betty Walker and husband, Ronnie, of Nicholls, Ga.; one granddaughter, Jessica Thomas Snyder of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one grandson, Michael Wilson of Natchez; two step-children, Cheryl Thomas Laughinghouse of Arkansas, and Carl Thomas of Pennsylvania; special friends, Karyln Ritchie and Shirley Johnson; special niece, Sheryl Neely and husband, Jimmy; longtime friend and companion, Harvey Morris, all of Natchez; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were nephews, Gary Sanford, Brant Sanford, Mark Walker, Al Buccieri, Jimmy Neely and Charles Malcolm.
Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society or a charity of choice.
