NATCHEZ — Services for Josephine Pressley, 87, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, were Monday, April 18, 2011, at Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earnest Ford Sr. officiating.
Burial followed at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pressley was born March 21, 1924, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Thomas Knight and Elizabeth Granger.
She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Mrs. Pressley was preceded in death by her husband, Evans Pressley; her parents; two sons, Jacob Leroy Noble and Moses Noble; one grandson, Maurice Tyms; one brother, Moses Knight; and one sister, Ellen Woods.
Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Noble; two sisters, Lucinda Sashfras and Lucy Perry; three brothers, Willie Knight, Louis Knight and Jonahas Williams; three grandsons, Herbert Tyms and Ernest Tyms, all of Natchez, and Phillip Noble of Hazel Crest, Ill.; five granddaughters, Lisa Tyms Vergil and husband, Henry, of Natchez, Yolanda Noble of Hazel Crest, Cheryl Noble of Lisle, Ill., Kendra Cobb and husband, Chester, of Calumet Park, Ill., and Sonya Noble of Villa Park; nine great-grandchildren, Christina Gallaway, Sharta Tyms, Derrick Mearday, Marcus Mearday, Shankeitha Jones, Laquandra Jones, Jasmine Tyms, Monique Tyms and Maurice Tyms; a number of great-great-grandchildren; a special daughter-in-law, Ethel Noble Gaines; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
