The field is set for the 2017 Beau Pré Cup Championship.

From Saturday’s group of 17 players, the top four qualified to finalize the 28-player roster for the cup tournament that is scheduled for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

Tripp Bryant was the only player to shoot under par during this weekend’s qualifier, ending the single round with a score of 71 to claim his spot.

Lloyd Trisler, Jeff Anderson and Trey Corbett also qualified.

Heavy rain throughout the week left Bryant and the rest of the contenders with rather damp conditions during Saturday’s round.

“It was really wet,” Bryant said. “I just hit some good shots and got lucky.”

Bryant had a rocky start by making a double bogey on the first hole, but he said his determination helped him to stay calm.

Bryant then made five birdie shots on the remainder of the front nine holes, including the last two. He sat three under par at the turn.

“I played pretty good, but a lot better on the front,” he said. “I started rough and then came back to recover. It felt good.”

Bryant said since he could have shot better on the back nine, he was a little surprised he was the only player to shoot under par Saturday.

Bryant finished one under par.

“It was a little bit of a shock because I thought there would be one or two right around even,” he said. “It’s great because this is the first year I’ve actually made (the cup.) I’m really looking forward to it.”

Of the remaining players who qualified for the Beau Pré Cup Championship, 14 were named from June’s club championship and four claimed spots from another qualifying round in July.

Michael Blain and Keith Rayborn — who were voted by the club’s players — finish the roster as captains for the cup.

Beau Pré golf pro Bobbie McCrimmon said he is happy to have the tournament’s roster completed.

“It’s a big deal for these guys to make the team,” he said. “It’s very competitive.”

Come September, McCrimmon said he is excited to see how the Beau Pré Cup Championship turns out.

“They have a Friday night dinner and dress up in coats and slacks. I want them to have fun, and I want it to be close. I don’t want it to be a blowout either way,” he said. “It’s bragging rights and all about prestige.”
